Finding opportunities in unexpected places, I discovered the importance of resilience and adaptability. Leveraging my experiences to make a positive impact, I found a new, rewarding path forward.
Relocation after relocation, picking up our lives and starting over again was a constant challenge. Every time I had to find a new job and with a growing family, I wanted flexibility. It was a difficult road to become a mother, and now that I had three amazing daughters, being involved in their lives was the most important thing to me. I was ready for a new chapter; I wanted to establish roots and try my hand at a different profession.
My entire career up to this point revolved around healthcare and education, specifically, the needs of children. After completing my master’s degree in health sciences, I worked at United Cerebral Palsy of Nassau County, where I started as an occupational therapist and was quickly promoted to Home Service Director. This position allowed me to make a more significant impact by managing and directing services that supported not just the children but their families as well.
The depth of my experience grew as I continued to embrace opportunities that involved working with children across different settings. With every move our family made due to corporate relocations for my husband at the time, I found a job that aligned with my background. From working in education roles to overseeing occupational therapy departments, each opportunity gave me a new avenue to do what I love. The heart of my passion is to serve people and make a difference through kindness, care and compassion.
However, over the course of 12 years, we moved eight times; that is 16 transactions, buying and selling, all while working to find a new job, help my girls settle into a new place and try to coordinate moving all our belongings in the process. It was a lot to take on over and over again. When we moved to Ridgefield, it brought an overwhelming sense of comfort—this was where I wanted to raise our kids.
Finding our home in Ridgefield for the third time marked a new chapter for our family and also for my career path. As my daughters were getting more involved with their school activities, I wanted to be there supporting them in every way I could. I wanted a more flexible job that allowed me to prioritize them.
That’s when I decided to use my experiences relocating to help people in real estate. In 1999, I received my REALTORS® license and applied the same passion and drive I poured into my work as an occupational therapist to help families through the buying and selling process.
Establishing credibility and building a client base in an industry where experience and trust are paramount posed a considerable challenge. Each move and job change throughout the years had prepared me. I was used to starting anew, building relationships quickly and adapting to new environments—skills that proved invaluable in real estate.
Through market fluctuations and adjusting to life as a single mother, I stayed strong and determined. Sometimes, I had to work side jobs, often in fashion, another passion of mine. But I always stayed on course, knowing real estate was where I truly belonged and where I could make a significant impact.
My oldest, Jamie, works in marketing and lives in the U.K. with her husband, Chris. Mollie just accepted a position in public health in New York and lives in Norwalk, Connecticut, with her husband, Stéphane—I helped them buy their first home last year! And Kelsey, my youngest, is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine who lives in Las Vegas. I’m very proud of all of them.
As an empty nester, I have been able to focus on my career and have plans to start a team to help new agents in the industry. In this new chapter, I have also focused on doing the things I love, including cooking, entertaining, live theater, and hiking.
One of my favorite personal experiences in real estate was when I purchased a home that had a lot of untapped potential. A local builder had suggested it, and despite its disheveled appearance and my children's half-joking claims of it being haunted, I saw through the neglect to its true promise. With a strict budget and a timeline, we transformed the house into a home, learning the ins and outs of renovation along the way. When I eventually sold it after living there for years, I made a great profit.
This experience represents how I approach my real estate practice. I bring this same vision and practical know-how to my clients, helping them see beyond surface imperfections to the potential of a space. As a member of The Inner Circle of the Fortune Builders Company and the Institute of Luxury Home Marketing, I bring a wealth of knowledge to the buying and selling experience. I can uncover the hidden value in properties, whether it is a potential new home or a listing that needs some work. From there, with exceptional marketing, strategic negotiations and strong determination to help my clients achieve their goals, I am well-equipped to make your experience a success!
